The awaited 4th ASEAN Architect Congress is finally here!!
The host nation for the 4th congress this year is Indonesia. The Congress will be held in Makassar at 28 July 2023 in Ebony Hall, Gammara Hotel.
Currently MRA/ Mutual Recognition Arrangements for Architect is experiencing stagnation in mobilization (RFA / Registered Foreign Architect & MNP / Movement of Natural Person). In 2022, there are currently 813 AA (ASEAN Architects) registered, but there has been no cross-border practice between them, so until now there is still no Registered Foreign Architect (RFA). At the ASEAN Architects Council meeting in Vietnam in 2015, one of the issues was raised, which is the stagnation of cross-border professional practice, and attempt to solve that by initiating an activity entitled ASEAN Architects Congress by Malaysia & Philippine. This idea was once again sparked by the Chairman of the PRC (Professional Regulatory Commission) + Timor Leste. This congress is expected to be a platform for ASEAN Architects to gather and interact together and explore the possibility of collaboration including discussing any problem that may occur in each country for cross border architectural practice, and the way to solve them.
The 4th ASEAN Architect Congress is held to foster intellectual exchanges, discussions on each country specifically in terms of cross border architecture practice challenges, encouraging and facilitating architects within ASEAN member countries to do cross border practice ethically legally and professionally. Through this Congress we are going to work together to obtain Standard Patterns of Collaboration Agreements for ASEAN Architects. And also becoming a platform for ASEAN Architects to meet, collaborate, and also promoting ASEAN Architects Services around ASEAN member countries.
